I do not know many people that have broken as many 1410 yokes as I have but here is a little advice on a atlas yoke. Do not ever put a plain spicer yoke back onto a atlas with out the taper portion on it below is what your atlas will look like. Now it is not like I didn't give atlas yokes a chance but after breaking 4 of them I was getting tired of it. Now after switching to the spicer that stopped but as you can see not good on the tcase.

This was a $1,400 mistake to try and make it stronger and quit breaking.

Well that wasn't the first failure the transfer case hasn't shifted correct since it was new. I pulled it out numerous times to adjust it and it would shift one time on the bench then in the buggy it wouldn't go into high range or 2.76. When I changed the oil I found out why a gray gear in it came apart but atlas said it wasn't warranted and I had it adjusted wrong. So hopefully when I get it back it will shift this time.

Just seems like we keep hearing more and more problems with atlas in the last couple of years I guess their falling behind with todays big horspower and sticky tires.

I love my junkyard 35 year old np205 more and more every day.

That sucks that happened. Sounds like you have it figured out now though.

I want one of the new trail worthy fab cases

Go "HERO" or gtfo!!!! and only $3499. for your wheeling pleasure.
On a side note I really do want to wheel with you!!

They claim their new "Race Case" will hold up to all the punishment.

I know their 3spd is just released with some nice gear selections. Might be an option.

Who else has had problems w their atlas? I don't personally know any besides you I don't think... But really you caused this by installing the wrong yoke in it. Where are the yokes breaking? Any chance something is getting in a bind some where causing it?

No you don't.
Unless you like gay midget albino porn like @Landcruzn does.
It's all the fawker talks about.
You have been warned.

Oh come on now I'm not that bad. But here is a couple pics of the yokes.

Dunno if its just the pics but it looks as if the yoke is so thin in that area its gonna break anyway and the width of the 1410 hurts more than it helps in that situation. You may be better off downsizing and get the best 1350 joints money can buy.

George was saying last weekend that he specifically runs 1310 shafts and 1310 yokes because he'd rather replace them than Atlas internals.

Not helpful, but sort of relevant.

To answer the question who has problems out of their atlas quiet a few people that I have met at the srrs event have had quiet a bit of trouble out of them and that is why people are going to the trail worthy now. The comparison is quiet impressive and to have the since of security is nice to.
Well the ones on the carrier bearing setup have been milled down and that may be the case but the one on the transfer case broke on the same way. No that I have all spice so far no problems other than burning the bearing up in the atlas. Now on that note the yoke that was put on the atlas that caused the bearing is the same as a 205 so that means atlas uses a smaller bearing.

I have a fortune in my drive line now I am not changing to a 1350 I don't seem to be having a problem with the spicer yokes now. Atlas milled the end of the yoke down to match their bearing and put all the race parts back into the case.
Now another part I have not been able to shift the atlas into high range or 2.76 since it was new. I set everything up on the bench and when it went into the buggy wouldn't shift. Done that 4 times and still same results and found parts of a gear in it before even changing to the spicer yoke. So hopefully when I get it back that problem will be fixed and I will be able to use all my gears.

I don't think the 1310 will hold up 30 seconds with my buggy and my wheeling style.

Agree i do on 1310 joints being a cheap "fusible link"
But George runs a Stak transfer case.
You smoking that stuff again? LOL!
;)

1410 leverage is the problem, along with shock loading from the drivetrain cushion you lost with the straight cut trans gears. ...and your driving in general. ...[emoji6]

I don't know there is only around .25" difference on the leverage side but that may be enough to do it but I think it will stop with the next round of yokes I am getting none of the body is being taken out of them so we will see.
I did notice a couple different shade of metal in the broken yokes kind of like bad casting. Also Dave noticed it to but who knows all I know is just carry spares with me and some spare caps and it slings those out into a million pieces.
