Currently, the NC4x4 admin team is currently working to enable a ruleset that severely restricts the activity of unsponsored members of the board under the age of 21. This will be as soon as possible.

Some of the reasons for this change will be added to this thread.

For our current youthful members, sponsorship means that an active member over 21 is willing to police your posts, and help you to think before you post. This means that their reputation will be linked to your own, and that they can pull you up, or you can pull them down.

1. It should be noted that lying about your age will likely result in permanent banning. And members here do see each other on the trail, so a deception will be figured out fairly quickly.

2. There ARE ways to be sponsored. They include meeting members offline, at meet and greets, club functions (check upcoming events), membership on other boards, etc. If you are patient enough to be sponsored, you're generally going to be someone we want.

3. The sponsorship program should be considered a way to spread out the workload of moderation and administration. Advice, criticism, and other council that a young person needs will be better recieved from someone that they respect (a sponsor). Unsponsored folks will either learn to use the areas that they can in an appropriate manner, or they will not find someone to sponsor them.
