I’m running 2.5” OD 7075 round bar lowers on my buggy build, and I am looking into snagging some Al to build some uppers. I can buy 7075 at market price, or I can grab some 1.5” OD 6061 for a smoking deal. I know 6061 cannot handle high stresses as well as 7075, but this link will not experience transverse loading like the lowers. The axial forces will be higher but I don’t believe it will exceed or even come close to yield.

Anyone ever ran 6061 on any of their links?

I've ran 6061 as uppers before. Biggest thing is keep the jam nuts tight so you don't pull the threads out.

Yeah that’s really my only concern but I think I’m gonna run it. Also will have a spare link on hand at this price.

Savvy uses 6061 on their uppers for the TJ mid arm kit if thay adds anymore comfort.

Yep, they probably did some real calculations or R&D... hopefully

For aluminum you probably want thread engagement equal to 1.5-2.0 times the joint thread diameter minimum. It would be wise to get as much as you can.
