I don't have a really cool 4x4 build, but I can do a garage build thread:

This morning before the dozer started tearing up stuff

This was a really big tree that was cut down just before closing on the house. We've been burning the stump for about 10 months on the weekends for fun. I didn't realize how much was left of it under the ground. He scooped a couple buckets around the side and then plucked it right out.

I am sure he rolled the dirt in where the stump was , but it may be worth compacting it more if your slab is going over where the stump was . I had one pulled up and its under the corner of my garage and I am now starting to see some cracking there from settling . It amazes me as to what a good operator can accomplish .

He dug a big hole then filled it in. He spent most of
His time around where that hole was. Only had one truck
Bringing dirt in, so that gave plenty of time to pack
each one down.

Here's the rough grading. Looks like it has a dip in the middle from the photo, but it's dead nuts on. Concrete guy is coming today to play. My retaining wall is coming down, it's an embarrassment.

I got the fellows over at Affordable Concrete in Concord to do some work.

They recycle materials to use for packing and other stuff. I got a load of recycled bricks to lay down under the concrete. Stuff looks really cool. I'm gonna get some to put down over the new driveway. It looks like dirt from a distance and packs down really hard. I've posted a close up pic.

Now she's ready for some concrete!

They're putting some kind of metal down. 4000psi with some kind of fiber in it. Concrete to me is like trying to read chinese.

Got the concrete poured today. Looks pretty flat to me. It's really smooth. I expected it to be rough like a driveway, but now it's screaming for some slick track action!

looking good!

I remember a few years ago a group of us tore down and rebuilt one of these in a day because the orginal builders put the beams for the legs at the truss and vise versa. Looks good. Are you going to insulate it?

Carolina Carports. They had zero scrap metal leftover. Seems like they
Know exactly what it will need. I plan to insulate it, but not sure which
route to take.

I'm happy with it, even got it done legally, permits and all.

Waiting for the real horror, the electrician quote.

Do you live within the city/town limits? If not, I'd wire it myself. Heck, I live within the city limits and I wired my own. I just left the permit letter hanging up and all the pass inspection tags and went to wiring on my garage.

I just have to have my BIL to come and dig the ditch to lay the wire some weekend.
