Having some starting issues on my CRF450R 09' that I can't track down. Anyone on here do some work on the side and want to take a stab at it?

Thanks,

Brad

Okay, I figured it was the valves and actually bought everything to do them. Where I struggled is knowing the "feel" of how tight it should be. I can shove a gauge in there but not sure how to "gauge" how tight it should or shouldn't be.

Gauges and Google. These engines are tight, built tight, and oh tolerances are tight. Should, be shim buckets, and you need to buy or make a tool to back off tensioner for timing chain.

I think you have to pull the cams on this motor if im not mistaken

4 stroke 450's suck to start even when the valves are right and especially when hot. Watch professional moto-x they usual have a mechanic start the bike, if they kill it during the race and don't have E-start they have to kick the hell out of it. Those bikes are in top shape and still have issues starting an older 450 4stroke is damn near impossible to start hot.
